INTRODUCTION TO SPECIAL EDUCATION
INTRODUCTION
Introduction to Special Education, EDSP 308, is a course designed to
introduce the student to the various exceptionalities and classification
schemes through which the public schools and health-related agencies serve
handicapped children and adults. Included in the course are the etiological,
psychological, educational and vocational aspects of exceptionality. The
course emphasizes the general and specific needs of the handicapped,
current issues in instruction and management techniques and the various
models or alternatives for service available to the handicapped. This
course is often required for basic certification in special education,
as well as general education.
This course offers three (3) hours of academic credit.
MID-COURSE TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION
The student will take a Mid-Course Test and Final Examination at a physical
location in a college or university setting. Detailed instructions and
Mid-Course Test and Final Examination applications are included in the
online syllabus. Information regarding tests and procedures can be found in General Information.
INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Larry Tyler is an associate professor of special education. He received his B.S.E and M.S.E. from the State College of Arkansas and his Ed.D from The University of Kansas.
