SCIENCE IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
INTRODUCTION
The purposes of the course, Science in the Elementary School, are to help you understand more fully the content and processes of science for elementary and middle school children, to motivate you to start or enlarge a collection of workable teaching ideas and projects, to help you to plan a science unit, to acquaint you with teacher and commercially-made resources for teaching science, to review selected basic science concepts and vocabulary, and to provide opportunities for you to practice teaching science.
This course offers three (3) hours of academic credit.
MID-COURSE TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION
The student will take a Mid-Course Test and Final Examination at a physical
location in a college or university setting. Detailed instructions and
Mid-Course Test and Final Examination applications are included in the
online syllabus. Information regarding tests and procedures can be found in General Information.
INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Cynthia Deaton is an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education, Curriculum
and Instruction. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
