    The process of teaching career education and economic awareness to students in elementary and secondary schools. (3) 18 lessons.

EDEL 303. APPLICATIONS IN ELEM SCIENCE CLASSROOMS

    *Note: This course is currently unavailable.

    Concepts, curriculum, and evaluation in elementary science with an emphasis on applications. Emphasis on integrating theory and practice. May not be used for major credit in education. (3) 18 lessons.

EDEL 403. MATHEMATICS IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Modern methods and techniques for teaching computation, measurement, geometry, and problem solving; experience with children included. (3) 18 lessons.

LIBRARY SCIENCE

EDLS 301. CHILDREN'S LITERATURE, K-8

    Selection, examination and effective utilization of literature for children from kindergarten through grade 8. (3) 18 lessons.

READING EDUCATION

EDRD 300. FOUNDATIONS OF READING INSTRUCTION

    Survey of the knowledge base necessary for teaching reading; emphasis on basics, word recognition, comprehension, and study skills. (3) 14 lessons.

EDRD 317. DIAGNOSIS AND REMEDIATION OF READING DISABILITIES

    Fundamentals of diagnosis and remediation of reading disabilities and application of the principles studied with emphasis on causes of reading disabilities. (3) 15 lessons. Also offered as a CYBER course.

EDRD 415. METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR TEACHING READING IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    The reading process as it applies to an integrated instructional plan in the elementary curriculum. Methods, materials and strategies for teaching word recognition, comprehension, and writing skills. Instructional planning using an eclectic approach for effective teaching. (3) 13 lessons. Also offered as a CYBER course.

EDRD 429. READING IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL

    The reading process as it applies to junior and senior high school curricula. Emphasis on preparing pre-service content-area teachers to meet the needs of students with widely varying levels of reading achievement. (3) 14 lessons. Also offered as a CYBER course.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

EDSP 308. INTRODUCTION TO SPECIAL EDUCATION

    An introduction to the special education of the exceptional child including the etiological, psychological, educational and vocational aspects of exceptionality. An inclusion approach is presented with strategies for accommodating students with disabilities in a regular educational setting. (3) 14 lessons. Also offered as a CYBER course.

LEADERSHIP AND COUNSELOR EDUCATION

COUN 307. EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

    Application of principles of general and developmental psychology to the science of teaching; learning, motivation, psychological testing. (3) 17 lessons.

COUN 309. PSYCHOLOGY OF ADOLESCENCE

    Psychological principles underlying the mental, emotional, and socio-moral stresses of the preadolescent and adolescent. (3) 16 lessons. Also offered as a CYBER course.

COUN 333. PSYCHOLOGY OF HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

    General survey of all aspects of psychological development from infancy through adolescence with emphasis on those educational conditions which enhance the growth of the individual. (3) 18 lessons.
