Cyber/Web-Based Courses
Cyber courses are similar to traditional correspondence
course, except they use the dynamic medium of the World
Wide Web instead of the printed page to present the
course. All course communication is by e-mail, including
lesson submission and the instructor's response. This
eliminates the delay in sending and receiving lessons
via the United States Postal System. These courses are
designed and delivered via the Internet. We use the
Angel course delivery software for all
our cyber courses. Students must have access to a
computer with an Internet link, be able to use graphical
Web browsers (such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft
Internet Explorer), and be able to communicate via
e-mail.
For best result, students should use a major word-processing
software program, such as WordPerfect or Microsoft Word,
to do their lessons.
Courses are open to all interested persons, including full-time college
students who may have scheduling problems or wish to
accelerate their degree program as well as persons
interested in earning university credit for a degree,
for certificate renewal, for increasing career skills,
or for personal interest and enjoyment. All courses
offer three hours of undergraduate credit. Courses
offered by the Department of Independent Study, whether
in print or as a cyber course, are fully accredited
through The University of Mississippi and the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.
To register submit the registration form found here. When this
is received and you have been added to the student database,
you will receive further information on your course
via email.
