What Our Courses Offer You

PURPOSE

Independent study courses are offered primarily for students who want to continue their formal education but find it difficult to do so through regular class work on campus. Enrollment is open to all interested persons. The Independent Study Program at The University of Mississippi is designed to meet the needs of students both on and off campus. The courses are available to full-time college students who may have scheduling problems or wish to accelerate their degree program as well as to persons interested in earning university credit for a degree, for certificate renewal, for increasing career skills, or for personal interest and enjoyment.

HOW STUDENTS USE INDEPENDENT STUDY

  • towards a degree at The University of Mississippi or elsewhere
  • to fulfill prerequisites for more advanced courses or solve scheduling conflicts
  • to meet requirements for certification, job advancement, or continuing education
  • for personal enrichment
