Substantial scholarships are available for residents of Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Montgomery, or Webster County in Mississippi who are interested in pursuing their first bachelor’s or graduate-level degrees at Mississippi universities.
For the current school year (2007/2008), a full-time student (at least 9 hours) can expect to receive $2,000 per semester. A student classified as at least half-time (5-8 hours) can expect to receive $1,000 per semester, and a student classified as less than half-time (less than 5 hours) can expect to receive $500 per semester.
Students can receive the Sumners Grant in the summer, if they have remaining eligibility from the previous academic year.
It is not necessary to complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to receive this grant. Each school year, students should complete the online Sumners Grant application at
http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/financial_aid/online/sumners2.html.
Students must reside in Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Montgomery or Webster County, for at least 12 continuous months to be eligible.
Students must maintain satifactory academic progress and continue residing in one of the 5 Sumners counties in order to continue receiving this grant.

MTAG is available for students who graduated from a Mississippi high school with no less than a 2.5 GPA and a minimum score of 15 on the ACT.

Community college transfer students with a 3.5 GPA on at least 48 transferable community college credit hours and membership in the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society are eligible for the PTK scholarship No separate application is required PTK will be indicated on your official community college transcript that you have sent to UM for admission.
Award Amount $4,800 ($2,400 per year for two years/ $1200 per semester)

The LuckyDay scholarship is awarded to community college transfer students who are rising juniors with 54 transferable community college hours minimum. Preference is given to secondary education students, but elementary education majors are encouraged to apply.
In accepting this scholarship for four semesters, the recipient agrees to teach in any Mississippi public or private school for three years During their junior and senior years at UM, recipients also must maintain a 2.5 overall GPA and full-time enrollment to continue to receive the scholarship.
Award Amount and Length of Eligibility: Students who meet the criteria will receive $4,600 per year for the junior and senior year for a total of $9,200. A total of 40 scholarships are available each year for incoming juniors.

Available to full-time junior and senior students who are enrolled in a program of study leading to a Class "A" teacher educator license at a four-year Mississippi college or university. The applicant must be a resident of Mississippi and agree to employment immediately upon degree completion as a full-time classroom teacher in any public school in the State of Mississippi.
Award Amount and Length of Eligibility: Junior and senior participants are eligible to receive up to $4,000 per year. Eligible participants may continue to receive funds for the four (4) semesters.

Available to full-time junior and senior students who are enrolled in a program of study leading to a Class “A" teacher educator license at a four-year Mississippi college or university. The applicant must be a resident of Mississippi and agree to employment immediately upon degree completion as a full time classroom teacher in either a Mississippi public school located in a critical teacher shortage area, or in a subject shortage area.
Award Amount and Length of Eligibility: Tuition and required fees plus average cost of room and meals plus an allowance for books. Funds are not provided for out-of-state tuition and for summer school costs.
