Educational Accountability Service Center for Schools and Communities

“School improvement occurs one school at a time!”

When President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the Act redefined Pre-K-12 education and focused schools on the importance of closing the achievement gap among all students. The Accountability Plus for Schools and Communities Project, or APSC, supports the President’s four basic education reform principles

• stronger accountability for results
• increased flexibility and local control
• expanded options for parents
• emphasis on teaching methods and other strategies that have been proven to work

The Accountability Service Center assists Mississippi School Districts in

• improving instruction and achievement in Pre-K-12 schools
• implementing state accountability regulations
• implementing “No Child Left Behind” legislation
• targeting district/school-specific needs
• creating optimal networking opportunities for districts
• enhancing parental involvement
• incorporating community and business leadership into the school district’s improvement plan.

The Accountability Plus Team has proven experience in

• building, district, and special education administration
• working with school personnel to produce high-quality instruction and to impact student achievement
• creating effective programs with available resources
• deriving cost effective solutions to instructional problems
• working with state-level decision-makers.

The Accountability Plus Team can

• conduct an instructional audit of schools
• submit written reports to school officials
• provide technical assistance
• facilitate on-going professional development
• develop school-specific plans for improvement
• initiate community meetings to enhance district support.
