ARE YOU READYto study at the University of Mississippi?

The University of Mississippi, or Ole Miss as it is affectionately called, offers a wealth of opportunities for students looking for a short-term undergraduate stay at a U.S. university.

Located in Oxford, the University of Mississippi is proud of its history and academic achievement. Since 1844, the University’s beautifully sprawling campus has been home to thousands of students. Today, almost 15,000 students walk the same sidewalks and pathways as Ole Miss alumni such as U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, Fox News Anchor Shepard Smith, and Fed Ex Vice President Rose Flenorl.

U.S. students are drawn here for some of the same reasons you are considering study at Ole Miss. We are home to major research facilities in acoustics, engineering, water and wetlands, and pharmacy. Our faculty is also noted for its exceptional knowledge of many fields, helping the University consistently produce Rhodes Scholars—28 to date, placing the University in the elite top ten of the nation.

Set in a town only slightly larger than the campus, Ole Miss is an open, caring, nurturing community. It’s these values that have helped our degree in Southern Studies flourish and become internationally renowned in its unique study of Southern culture and the dynamic history of our region.

A key draw for many U.S. and international students alike is our position in a region known for its romantic reinvention and dark history. The City of Oxford is located in the heart of the Deep South, graced with sweet-scented magnolia trees and languishing days. Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner lived and wrote in Oxford, and the city remains a draw for such literary giants as the late Eudora Welty and popular modern writers like John Grisham.

Though small and mostly rural, Oxford and the surrounding towns offer a cosmopolitan blend of music, literature, and the arts with a relaxed lifestyle. Oxford’s picturesque 19th-century town square draws visitors from all over the world, but it’s the low cost of living, safe and scenic surroundings, and mild climate that keep visitors here.

You may only visit the University of Mississippi for a semester or a year, but once you’ve come, you’ll always be a member of the Ole Miss family.
