2003 “NOVEL IDEAS” WORKSHOP
This is a one-day workshop for individuals with an interest in writing
novels. Attendees will learn all the phases of writing novels –
from where ideas for novels come from to how novels are developed. The
craft of novel writing will be explored through a series of exercises
to help the would-be novelist shape and begin a new novel.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
- To explore the craft of writing a novel
- To provide details regarding the different components of writing a
novel
- To promote novel writing creativity through a series of thinking and
writing exercises
- To provide open discussion for novel writing ideas
PROGRAM DETAILS
Date: Saturday, February 15, 2003.
Time: Registration will occur from 8:30am to 9:00am.
The Workshop will begin at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm.
Location: The “Novel Ideas” Workshop will
be held at the E. F. Yerby Conference Center at The University of Mississippi
in Oxford. The Yerby Center is located at the corner of Grove Loop and
University Avenue, next door to the Alumni Center Hotel.

Fees: Tuition for the program is $175 per person. The
fee includes lecture, workshop, manual, lunch, and refreshments. Manuscript
critiques are available at an additional cost of $25 per manuscript.
Deadline: The registration deadline is Friday,
February 7, 2003.
Note: Dress should be casual and comfortable.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the University’s Alumni
Center Hotel on the University of Mississippi campus. Please make your

. The Alumni Center Hotel is connected to the E. F. Yerby Conference Center
(where the workshop will convene).
MEALS
Refreshments and lunch will be provided for all participants.
TRANSPORTATION
The Memphis International Airport is approximately 80 miles (1 hour
and 15 minutes drive) from The University of Mississippi. If Shuttle service
is desired, please contact the Office of Professional Development and

for a one-way shuttle is $35.00 and the round trip fare is $55.00.
