Oxford, Mississippi

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program at The University of Mississippi offers intensive English language instruction to students wishing to acquire a functional command of communicative and academic English.

The University, affectionately known as Ole Miss, is Mississippi's flagship institution of higher education and is located in the heart of the southeastern United States, making it the perfect location to experience the rich culture and warm hospitality of the American South. Take the UM Virtual Tour.

Southern Hospitality
The concept of Southern hospitality is well-known—warm smiling faces, genteel manners, a quick, easy laugh, and a smooth drawl. The South is a fabled, evocative land of warmth and generosity, so it is no small designation that, in a region recognized for its kindness to strangers, Mississippi is known as the “Hospitality State.” We take that label pretty seriously here. We hope you'll come experience it for yourself.

Oxford, Mississippi
Described in USA Today as a thriving center for the arts in the New South, Oxford is not a typical small town. It combines the charm and safety of a small Southern town with the multiculturalism and energy of a larger city, making it the perfect location to experience the rich culture and warm hospitality of the South while learning English in a high quality ESL program.
