DeSoto Students Donate Sign to Strayhorn Elementary
On Nov. 28, the UM DeSoto chapter of Teachers of Tomorrow, or TOT, celebrated the donation of a new sign to Strayhorn Elementary School in Tate County.
The construction of the new sign was funded by a $1,000 CLASS Grant from the National Education Association and local donors. DeSoto TOT president Tammie Eldred, an elementary education major, successfully wrote the grant after noticing the school had no sign during her student teaching there. Each year the organization chooses a special project to serve DeSoto County and its surrounding communities.
