Message from the Dean

Dean Love

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration at The University of Mississippi, it is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the DeSoto campus in Southaven. At UM-DeSoto we offer a balance of traditional university and state-of-the-art programs in an ideal setting for a student with work, family, and community commitments.

This is an exciting time for everyone at UM-DeSoto. Our program offerings continue to evolve to meet the needs of residents in DeSoto County and the Mid-South. Our student population has expanded to include traditional and non-traditional students alike. We have seen our student services grow to include numerous professional organizations, extended academic counseling, and a true comradeship among our students and faculty.

The faculty and staff at UM-DeSoto share not only a love of knowledge but a desire to see each student succeed academically, professionally, and personally. We are here to help and invite you to stop by our offices any time. Hundreds of students in our community have completed degrees by taking courses with UM-DeSoto. In fact, we were very proud to graduate our largest class ever from the UM-DeSoto campus this spring - nearly 350 graduates! We want to help you attain your goals as well.

At UM-DeSoto our primary focus is students, but we have many different resources available for professionals, and members of the community as well. We hope you will let us share these resources with you as we all work together to build a stronger and better community.

The door's always open, and the coffee's usually hot.
