Instructions for Speakers

An overhead projector, LCD projector, and laptop with Power Point
will be available.

Student speakers should have "Student Speaker" prominently
displayed on the first slide of their talk. (Please see
info about cash prizes for student presentations.)

Note the length of your talk in the program.

  • 30 minutes for invited talks
    (Please leave 3 minutes for questions)
  • 20 minutes for contributed talks on Friday, 21 May 2004
    (Please leave 2 minutes for questions)
  • 15 minutes contributed talks on Saturday, 22 May 2004
    (Please leave 2 minutes for questions)

A green, yellow, red light system will be used to help speakers
manage their time. Lights near the podium will indicate the
time remaining for your talk.

  • A green light will be turned on when 5 minutes of speaking time remain
  • A yellow light will be turned on when 2 minutes of speaking time remain
  • A red light will be turned on when no speaking time remains. (It indicates that you are running over into the time alotted for questions.)
  • The chair will ask you to stop speaking if you continue beyond the time alotted for questions.
