Computer Basics (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Designed for the computer novice, this course is for people who want to enter the computer age. Learn the fundamentals of using a PC, using the mouse and keyboard, typing a document in Word, and setting up a basic spreadsheet in Excel. You will learn lots of computer terminology, how to identify items on your computer, and the basics of windows. Participants will also learn the basics of the Internet, how it works, and what it can do for you.

Public Speaking: Stand and Deliver!

Stand and Deliver focuses on public speaking and group presentation skills for novice to advanced-level speakers. Sharpening your speaking skills doesn't have to be complicated or difficult—it just requires learning some basic techniques for controlling voice and body language, developing messages, and practicing delivery.

INSTRUCTORS: JoAnn and Dex Edwards — JoAnn Edwards is an Instructor of Speech at Ole Miss and serves as Director of Forensics and Special Projects Manager of the Lott Leadership Institute. Her husband Dex is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at UM. The Edwards have a combined total of 30 years of experience in public speaking and have won many national and local public speaking awards.

Social Media Marketing

Social media is one of the most exciting, highly effective communication tools that can provide powerful and cost-efficient marketing. Participants will walk away from this boot camp knowing how to set up and optimize social media sites, generate targeted leads via Facebook ads, generate traffic, increase returns on site investment, apply practical strategies, and navigate the do’s and don’ts of social media.
