Mitch Robinson will present a historical narrative of the landscapes of North Mississippi, focusing on the peoples and land use history of the Strawberry Plains Audubon Center (SPAC), culminating in the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Center and Audubon Mississippi in 2018. Mitch will explore the importance of Mississippi’s native plants and how to incorporate them into home landscapes, highlighting SPAC’s Native Plant Nursery and Audubon’s Plants for Birds Database and Native Plant Initiative. The short presentation will be followed by a tour of the Center’s gardens and campus, including a covered wagon-ride through the 2,600-acre wildlife sanctuary and self-sustaining native habitats. Participants are invited to bring an optional sack lunch and stay to enjoy a relaxing picnic on the grounds.
