Mediation Critique
This third component of the Mediation Training Curriculum gives participants the opportunity to advance their skills through an intensive workshop featuring role play and skills critique. The Mediation Critique class offers twelve hours of training. Upon completion of Basic, Advanced and Critique classes, participants will have forty hours of training. Many private entities, and some other states, require up to forty hours of skills training before a mediator can be approved for employment.
About the Instructors
BEVERLY C. AUSTIN
Beverly holds a BPS with a concentration in mediation and arbitration from the University of Memphis and an M.A.
in conflict resolution from Antioch University. She is an experienced and highly qualified mediator and arbitrator. She
mediates for the EEOC, the USPS and the VA in several states. Beverly is an approved trainer for the Mississippi Supreme
Court Mediation Program and has trained more than 400
attorneys. She coordinated the Small Claims Pilot Mediation program in Paragould, Arkansas, mediated for a juvenile
restitution program in Little Rock and has been a driving force in the training of a variety of other professionals in the value of mediation.
ELTON W. CHARTRAND
Elton is an experienced Mediator and Arbitrator, as well as a certified court mediator for the State of Arkansas Circuit
Courts. He serves as the Director of the Pulaski County District Court Mediation Program in Little Rock, AR. He is an experienced,
skilled ADR practitioner, with a hands–on approach to Mediation training. He has been instrumental in the development
of Mediation programs for both the courtroom and the classroom setting. Elton brings not only hundreds of hours of
Mediation training and experience, but over thirty years of private sector employment with Levi Strauss & Co., from which he retired in 1997.

- Two business days prior to the seminar, registration fee less a $25 administrative charge.
- One business day prior to the seminar, materials and registration fee less $75 OR transfer the registration fee to someone else in your firm or to an upcoming CLE seminar.

Registration is open to all interested parties including attorneys, judges, legal assistants, and law office staff.
Walk–ins will be accepted on a space–available basis. If you plan to attend and do not pre-register, please call the UM-CLE
office at (662) 915-7283 to determine space availability. Written materials will be given on the day of the seminar.

CLE Credit
Basic Mediation and Advanced Mediation have each been approved by the Mississippi Commission on Continuing
Legal Education for 14 hours CLE credits including 1 hour of Ethics. Mediation Critique has been approved
by the Mississippi Commission on Continuing Legal
Education for 12 general CLE credits. Registrants seeking mandatory CLE credit from another state should contact UM-CLE in advance of the seminar.
