The Academic Traveler is pleased to present its first family program, City Kids: New York. This program gives kids and parents an opportunity to travel to new places, learn about new things and explore new cultures — together! Kids ages 7–17 are welcome to participate with parents (or grandparents). New York has tremendous opportunities for kids of all ages, and we will…
Academic Travelers will…
- Visit the American Museum of Natural History to see bones, bears and bugs
- See the Statue of Liberty, the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal
- Tour of the cool art at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metopolitan Museum of Art
- Go to the top of the Empire State Building, the tallest building in New York City
- See Sonic Vision – a laser light show set to popular music
- Ride a speedboat along the Hudson River and enjoy the beautiful New York skyline
- Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
- Visit FAO Schwarz, the world’s largest toy store
- Picnic in Central Park and go to the zoo
The program fee is $1395 for adults (double adult occupancy) and $795 for children. This fee includes round-trip airfare (Memphis/New York), lodging (quad occupancy at the Embassy Suites Hotel), museum and other admissions, tour fees, welcome dinner, a Metrocard and pre-trip educational material. Registration deadline has been extended to Wednesday, July 25 to guarantee group airfare.
The tour director for City Kids: New York is Laura Antonow, former NYC resident, adjunct assistant professor of art at the University of Mississippi and mother of two who travels with her daughters as often as possible.
