City Kids: Italy

The Academic Traveler is pleased to present a family educational travel program, City Kids: Italy.  This program gives kids and parents an opportunity learn about new things and explore a new culture – together!  Kids ages 8 – 18 are welcome to participate with parents (or grandparents, aunts, or uncles).

Travelers will:

• Explore Venice by foot and by gondola
• Enjoy a welcome dinner in Venice, known for its succulent seafood and tiramisu
• Visit San Marco Basilica, the Palazzo Ducale and the Ponte dei Sospiri
• Tour of the island of Burano and visit the glass blowing studio.
• Tour the ancient center of Florence and learn about daily life during the Renaissance
• Taste and tour at a world-class chocolatier in Florence
• Shop at the San Lorenzo food market and taste cheeses, olive oils and balsamic vinegar
• Tour the Accademia Gallery and the Uffizi and see Michelangelo’s David and Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus
• Explore the medieval town of Lucca and see the leaning tower in Pisa
• Visit the marble quarries in Carrara and tour Cinque Terra, a UNESCO World Heritage site
• Learn how to cook classic Tuscan food at the villa
• Take a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica
• Tour the Baroque monuments of Rome, including the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, by horse-drawn carriage
• Enjoy a cooking lesson and farewell dinner at a traditional Roman restaurant

Included in the program cost:
