City Kids: Washington DC

The Academic Traveler is pleased to present a family educational travel program, City Kids: Washington, DC. This program gives kids and parents the opportunity to travel to new places, learn about new things and explore new cultures – together! Kids ages 8 – 18 are welcome to participate with parents (or grandparents, aunts, or uncles). Washington has tremendous opportunities for kids of all ages, and we will…
- Enjoy a welcome dinner at America sampling a variety of our nation’s cuisines
- Tour the White House and the U.S. Capitol (confirmation tentative)
- Compete in a scavenger hunt at the American Art Museum and Portrait Gallery
- Be a reporter or photojournalist at the Newseum
- See the Washington Monument, Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and other D.C. landmarks on a moonlight tour
- Visit the museums of the Smithsonian, including the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History and the National Gallery
- Visit the National Postal Museum and see how the mail has moved throughout history
- Shop at Union Station, a 101-year-old train station that now housing nearly 100 stores
- Enjoy a farewell lunch at Ella’s Wood Fired Pizza
City Kids: Washington, DC program cost ranges from $1195 for children and $1395 for adults. The registration deadline is Friday, June 24, 2011. Payroll deduction is available for University of Mississippi faculty and staff. Painlessly pay for your trip over up to 12 pay periods.
Included in the program cost:
- pre-trip educational material
- round-trip airfare (Memphis/DC)
- lodging at the Embassy Suites Hotel for three nights
- daily breakfast buffet
- museum admissions
- group tour and guide fees
- welcome and farewell dinners
Excluded from the program cost:
- transportation to/from the Memphis airport
- meals, other than those listed above
- travel insurance
