Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $25.00 per student, $15.00 for teachers (teachers who bring two paying students may attend free)

The UM Field Station will provide a one-day workshop focused on conducting and preparing secondary Level – grades 7-12 science fair projects. Topics will include:

  • What makes a good science fair project?
  • Scientific method
  • Developing a researchable question
  • Literature review and project background
  • Research design
    • Developing protocols and methods
    • Sampling design
    • Documenting your research
  • Statistically valid analysis
    • Calculating descriptive statistics
    • Replication
    • Charts and graphs
  • How projects are judged
    • Judging criteria
    • Scoring procedures and protocol
  • Project presentation
    • Presentation components
    • Layout
    • Oral presentation tips

Workshop will be held at the University of Mississippi Field Station’s Education Building from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 5th 2015. Cost is $25.00 per student, $15.00 for teachers (teachers who bring two paying students may attend free). Lunch will be provided. Spaces limited to the first 25 applicants.
