BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM
Second Summer Session:
June 28-July 28, 2006 |
Would you like to start your own business? Are you
interested in marketing and advertising? Would you
like to be an expert on the stock market? Would you
like to have hands-on experience with the latest
information technology? Then get connected to commerce!
The Business Administration Program provides an opportunity
for high school students to get a taste of what it’s like to
study business. Participants take 7 hours of course work that
will apply toward a college degree:
- MIS 241: Management Information Systems I is a 3-hour
course that looks at the principles of computer-based information
systems and end-user application development in a business
environment. This course focuses on current information
technology and its impact on individual and organizational
performance.
- BUS 271: Business Communication, a 3-hour course, is an
applications-oriented communication course focusing on developing
and writing reports, conducting oral briefings of business
issues and making multimedia presentations.
- EL 153: Sports Conditioning is a 1-hour course taught by
exercise science faculty who help students create their own
fitness development programs.
In addition to the courses they take, students can participate
in special discussion groups covering the areas of study within
the School of Business Administration. Business faculty members
will be available to help students focus their interests.
Business students participate in the Exploring sessions as
well as the social and recreational activities of the Summer College
for High School Students. They are housed with the other
Summer College students.
Any student who has a 3.2 GPA on 15 academic courses in
the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) or a minimum 25
ACT or the SAT equivalent and a 3.5 GPA on 10 academic
courses in the CPC is eligible. (If you are unclear as to how The
University of Mississippi defines the College Preparatory Curriculum,
please visit our Web site at www.olemiss.edu/admissions/
policies and click on College Preparatory Curriculum.) In
addition, applicants must be recommended by their high school
principals.
To apply, students should complete an application,
checking Business Administration Program and the session
(first or second) they wish to attend. All parts of the application
must be completed and returned together in the envelope
provided.
Cost for the Business Administration Program includes
tuition, room, meal plan and fees. Students accepted to the
program automatically receive a partial tuition scholarship.
Some full scholarships based on need and merit are available.
Financial concerns should not prevent a student from applying.
