What is August Intersession?
August Intersession is a two-week academic term that takes place
in early August. It is designed to offer Ole Miss students
the opportunity to earn up to three hours of academic credit
toward the completion of their degrees between the summer
and fall semesters.
What are the dates of August Intersession?
August Intersession will begin Monday, July 31, 2006. The last
day of August Intersession will also be the day of the final
exam, Tuesday, August 15. Fall semester classes will begin
the following Monday, August 21.
Why should I take a August Intersession class?
You will have the opportunity to take a course needed to
complete your degree or to retake a course if necessary.
There will be more opportunities for internships and for
studying abroad for course credit. If you know that you will
be taking some particularly demanding courses during the
fall, August Intersession could be the solution to a lighter
course load that term or provide the opportunity to
concentrate on only one subject. You can get ahead or catch
up by taking a course during August Intersession.
What kind of courses can I take?
On this web site you will find the academic calendar for
August Intersession. Classes are being finalized now for August
Intersession but should be similar to those offered during other
intersession terms such as May Intersession and Winter Intersession.
How do August Intersession classes work?
The normal, Oxford campus August Intersession course will meet
for approximately three hours and thirty minutes each day
for ten days (Monday through Friday) during the first two
weeks of August, with final exams scheduled for Tuesday,
August 15.
How much do August Intersession classes cost?
Tuition is the same as that of any
other comparable course taken during the fall or spring.

| Undergraduate, 3 credit hour course | $540.00 |
| Graduate, 3 credit hour course | $720.00 |

| Non-Residents |

Do I have to pay anything extra to stay in campus housing?
Yes. For a double occupancy dorm room during the August Intersession, your charge will be $200. If you have additional questions about housing, please contact that office directly.
How do I sign up for a August Intersession class?
Currently enrolled students may register for classes
beginning with the Priority Registration period that starts
March 22. For details about Study Abroad trips during August
click here. Check frequently as classes are being added as
they are finalized.
What if I need to withdraw from my course?
This is easy to do, but you cannot do it yourself over the
web. If you wish to drop your August Intersession schedule down
to zero hours, you will have to ask the registrar's office
to do this for you. The registrar's office will need a
signed note from you (delivered in person, by mail or by
fax) in which you provide your name, Social Security or
student ID number, and the course you wish to drop. The
registrar will then withdraw you from the course. The
telephone number for the registrar's office is 915-7792, and
the fax number is 915-7793.
What if I have more questions?
The August Intersession program is being administered by the
Office of Summer School within the Division of Outreach and
Continuing Education. Please feel free to contact us if you
have any questions.
