- What is the difference
between Ole Miss Online & Independent Study courses?
- Ole Miss Online is a semester based course. These
courses begin and end the same time as on-campus
classes and operate on a scheduled syllabus.
- Independent Study courses are correspondence courses.
These courses are self-paced and with a year to
complete a course.

- Is an Ole Miss
Online Course just like a classroom course?
- YES, it will cover the same material and be
taught by an instructor approved by the Chair
of the Department
- But an Ole Miss Online course frees you from
having to come to a physical location on campus.
- Instead, you access the course via a web site
on the Internet.
- You work through assignments that are posted
at the web site to accomplish the requirements
for the course.
- But don't be fooled into thinking you do not
have to go to your online class every week - You
need to spend as much time on your online class
as you do for a traditional classroom course.

- Can I use AOL's browser
to access my online class?
- Unfortunately, NO. You can not use the built-in
AOL browser; however, you can still connect to
your class by following these instructions.
- Log in to AOL as you normally would.
- Minimize the AOL window. (This step keeps your
AOL session valid, especially important when taking
a quiz.)
- Start a new browser session using either Internet
Explorer or Netscape Navigator separate from AOL.
Connect to your online class in whichever new
browser you have started.
- Why am I having
difficulty seeing certain parts of my lessons?
- It's important to be sure that your web browser
(Internet Explorer, etc) is configured properly.
Be sure that javascript is enabled, cookies are
accepted, and that you are not blocking pop-ups.
For instructions on making these adjustments,
consult your software's help features. If you
have any additional toolbars installed (Yahoo,
MSN, or Google toolbar) you may need to turn off
their pop-up blocking functions as well.

- Why does
ANGEL tell me my session has expired and I need to
reauthenticate when I try to login?
- This Internet Explorer problem can usually be
solved by adding http://angel.olemiss.edu to your
browser's "trusted sites" list, which
is located on the privacy tab of Internet Options.
For more information on this, please consult the
Help feature of Internet Explorer.

- How will I take tests?
- You will probably be required to take your
tests in a proctored environment.
- That might mean coming to one of The University

with our office to have an approved proctor administer
your exam. If you are off campus, you may want
to take your exam off campus, for which you will
need to fill out an application.
- You will receive further instructions once
your course begins.
