Climb aboard our bus and listen to the blues as we drive through the Delta. We’ll tour the Delta Blues Museum, visit Cathead Studio Blues and Folk Art, and enjoy live music at Morgan Freeman’s Blues club Ground Zero. We’ll depart from the front of the Conference Center. |

ACHE’s regions have, since their creation, served to make those services even more accessible. Dr. Whelan will provide historical perspectives on the leadership role ACHE South/Region 7 has played over the years. |

| 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Hot Topics in Ballroom A Presenter: Dr. Joseph Combs Generational Motivation and Learning Styles Is there a Generation Gap? Mr. Combs will answer this question and will discuss the various generational values and needs for “The Silent or Traditional Generation,” “The Baby Boomers,” “Generation X,” and “Generation Y.” He will discuss “Generation Myopia” and will answer the question: “Are the generations colliding in higher education?” He will call for a celebration of the generations and an adaptation to the learners’ needs. Mr. Combs will share 10 objectives to help meet the generational needs of our students. |

Fitzgerald Scholarship-Focused Outreach and Engagement: Integrating Scholarship with Public Service, Civic Engagement, and Community Partnerships. Michigan State University (MSU) advocates a scholarly model of outreach and engagement that fosters a reciprocal and mutually beneficial relationship between the University and the public. The MSU model emphasizes the generation, application, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge in ways that are mutually beneficial to campus and community partners. As the Office of University Outreach and Engagement has worked to diffuse this model across the University and in communities, it has developed models of engagement that are evidence-based, participatory, and focused on collaboration for effecting change. Dr. Fitzgerald will review the MSU approach and draw attention to lessons learned and those yet to be learned concerning institutional commitment to engagement. |
